The Accounts Receivable/Collections Manager will be responsible for managing the global accounts receivable (AR) and collections operations, ensuring timely collection of payments, optimizing the company’s cash flow and minimizing bad debt. The successful candidate will lead a team of AR specialists and liaise with clients and internal departments to resolve payment issues, reduce overdue receivables and streamline processes. This role requires a strong understanding of credit risk management, international payment terms and the complexities of cross-border transactions within the logistics industry.

Accounts Receivable/Collections Manager Responsibilities:

• Supervise, mentor and develop a team of AR and collections specialists across multiple regions
• Set clear performance goals, conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing training and development
• Foster a collaborative and high-performing team culture
• Oversee and manage the entire AR function, ensuring timely invoicing, accurate recording of transactions and prompt resolution of discrepancies
• Implement and monitor AR aging reports, prioritizing collection efforts for overdue accounts and ensuring timely escalations when necessary
• Develop strategies to improve AR metrics (e.g., DSO, bad debt levels)
• Lead the global collections process, ensuring prompt and effective recovery of outstanding receivables
• Collaborate with the sales, operations and legal teams to negotiate payment terms, establish credit limits and resolve client disputes
• Manage the approval process for credit terms and monitor credit risk across the client portfolio
• Implement and maintain credit control policies, ensuring adherence to company standards and best practices

Accounts Receivable/Collections Manager Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field
• 5+ years of progressive experience in accounts receivable, collections or credit management, with 3+ years in a managerial role
• Experience in a global logistics, supply chain or transportation environment is highly preferred
• Demonstrated experience in managing international AR portfolios and dealing with multi-currency transactions
• Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to build and lead a high-performing team
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with a proven track record of resolving disputes and collecting outstanding payments
• In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, credit management and AR best practices
• Proficiency in financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar ERP systems) and strong Excel skills
• Knowledge of international trade regulations, Incoterms and foreign exchange management
• Analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
