Pay: $84,224.00 - $118,523.00 per year

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Insurance Underwriter experienced in transportation and general liability to join our dynamic team. The Underwriter will be responsible for evaluating and assessing insurance claims, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role requires a strong understanding of workers compensation and underwriting concepts and the ability to analyze risk effectively. The ideal candidate will possess excellent business acumen and technical underwriting skills and communication with clients to make informed decisions that support our lending objectives.

The Underwriter will be based at our home office in Oak Ridge, TN or our office in Raleigh NC.

Duties

• Review and assess insurance claims and determine approval.
• Collaborate adjusters and insurance servicing teams to ensure seamless processing of claims
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of underwriting guidelines, policies, and industry regulations.
• Provide recommendations based on equity research and analysis findings.
• Communicate decisions clearly to stakeholders and provide rationale for underwriting choices.
• Document all underwriting decisions in compliance with company standards.

Skills

• Strong industry experience and knowledge servicing multi-line insurance and logistic/transportation underwriting policies
• Proficiency in underwriting methodologies.
• Experience in workers compensation servicing is preferred but not required.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
• Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with underwriting processes and standards is a plus.
