Fire Inspector 
Monday - Friday 8:00 am- 4:30 pm
Salary Range: $50,128 - $69,409

The purpose of this position is to assist in fire prevention activities to safeguard public safety, health, and general welfare.  General duties include c onducting fire prevention inspections; examines buildings to detect hazardous conditions or violations of fire laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards; issues notices for corrections; conducts re-inspections as needed.  Reviews plans and specifications for proposed construction and remodeling plans to ensure compliance with state and local fire and building code requirements. Inspects and/or test fire protection and/or fire detections systems to verify that systems are installed in accordance with laws, codes, ordinances, regulations, and standards.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Strongly Recommended:  NFPA 1031 Fire Inspector I, or NFPA 1030 Fire Inspector.
Minimum age 18 . High school diploma or G.E.D. Certification. Must be able to successfully complete a Class-A physical, drug screen, background check, must not have been convicted of felony or misdemeanor involving domestic violence, weapons, or a crime of moral turpitude.  Must possess a valid Alabama Driver’s License. Position requires essential functions to include frequent standing, walking, reaching, talking, climbing, stooping, kneeling and crawling. Lifting up to and in excess of 100 pounds and outside weather elements.
