Human Resources Trainee Location Sioux City, IA : Description: POSITION SUMMARY The HR Trainee is an entry-level position, designed to develop a future HR professional through a structured, 12-month training program. The trainee will gain hands-on experience across key internal functions including human resources, operations, recruiting, employee experience, and cross-team coordination. This role provides foundational exposure to internal processes, systems, and administrative workflows, with opportunities to support both daily operations and project-based initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Months 0-3: Organizational Foundation
Complete onboarding and foundational training focused on internal processes and systems
Learn company culture, values, and frontline team member experience
Gain hands-on experience with key administrative tools and platforms
Deliver high-quality internal support to teams and stakeholders
Begin developing cross-functional communication and collaboration skills
Shadow HR team members to gain exposure to department responsibilities
Months 3-6: HR & Recruitment Integration
Learn basic navigation of HRIS and other HR systems
Understand basics of employee data confidentiality and compliance
Begin learning the recruiting and onboarding process through observation
Assist with scheduling interviews and sending candidates communications
Participate in HR team meetings and understand departmental priorities
Support the preparation of HR documentation and file organization
Months 6-9: Talent Coordination & Internal Operations
Support employee engagement and wellness initiatives
Support HRIS system updates and team member lifecycle documentation
Post open positions, manage applicant tracking system, and screen new applicants
Coordinate onboarding logistics, including orientation scheduling and new hire setup
Begin identifying opportunities to streamline HR processes and propose solutions
Month 9-12: Full HR Immersion
Independently manage end-to-end recruitment for entry- to mid-level roles
Lead onboarding processes and ensure a seamless new hire experience
Own coordination of at least one employee engagement initiative and cultural event
Provide first-level support for team member inquiries
Participate in strategic HR planning sessions to provide insights from operations
Continue developing project management skills through leading mini-HR projects
Month 12: Transition to HR position with proven ability to:
Handle full-cycle HR Operations tasks.
Represent the company professionally in both internal and external communications.
Support both the administrative and strategic brand presence of HR.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBLITIES

Requirements: EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree required or equivalent work experience
A genuine interest in human resources and employee development
Strong communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills
Curiosity, ambition, and a desire to grow in a structured environment
Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism
