Lead, AI Data Engineer

Services within Mastercard is responsible for acquiring, engaging, and retaining customers by managing fraud and risk, enhancing cybersecurity, and improving the digital payments experience. We provide value-added services and leverage expertise, data-driven insights, and execution.


The Cyber and Fraud Solutions Data Science team is responsible for developing Artificial Intelligence products to help issuers, acquirers and merchants fight fraud. We are seeking a highly skilled and self-motivated AI Data Engineer to join our Data Science Team. In this role, you will design and build scalable data pipelines, robust feature engineering workflows and create shared tools that empower data scientists across the organization.


As a Lead AI Data Engineer Major Responsibilities include:

  • Leading team in the creation of portfolio robust analytical solutions through effective use of Mastercard’s global data assets and software platform
  • Independently maintain and organize data and tools for data transfer, mining, cleaning/processing, and validation
  • Design, build, and maintain data pipelines for structured and unstructured data used in AI/ML models
  • Develop and manage feature stores to support consistent feature computation across training and inference.
  • Recommend ways to improve data quality and efficiency
  • Collaborate with ML Engineering and ML Ops teams in building DQ Drift Monitoring AI Systems
  • Contribute to the development of AI microservices for integrating data pipelines with model APIs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and have opportunities to grow and develop as an AI Engineer
Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL
  • Experience with SQL language of the following database technologies: PostgreSQL, Oracle, Hadoop
  • Big Data Engineering experience – Spark, Kafka, Hive, Impala, Sqoop, AirFlow, NIFI
  • Experience in Linux/Bash Environment, multiple scripting languages and storage systems
  • Understanding machine learning workflows, model training, and inference pipelines
  • Building ML Feature Engineering workflows experience and familiarity with feature store
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms
  • Experience building or supporting DQ drift monitoring systems for ML models.
  • Understanding of the importance of data organization and security

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in the US, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive base salary and may be eligible for an annual bonus or commissions depending on the role. The base salary offered may vary depending on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay Ranges

O'Fallon, Missouri: $138,000 - $221,000 USD
