Job Description

Join our dynamic team at Owens Industries LLC as a Wire EDM Process Lead within our Advanced Manufacturing division, specializing in Aerospace and Defense applications in Oak Creek, WI.

In this pivotal role, you will oversee and optimize the Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) processes that produce precision components critical to high-performance aerospace and defense systems. Your expertise will drive manufacturing excellence, ensure top-tier quality, and foster continuous improvement in a fast-paced, innovative environment. You will establish repeatable, high-quality machining processes, support the New Product Introduction (NPI)and production readiness, and drive continuous improvement, all while maintaining compliance with AS9100 and ITAR standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process Development & Optimization: Create and maintain Wire EDM processes, actively monitoring equipment performance, troubleshooting issues, and recommending improvements.
  • Programming & Tooling: Program EDM machines and establish optimal tooling and fixturing strategies.
  • Quality Assurance & Readiness: Support First Article Inspection (FAI) and ensure production readiness, maintaining adherence to AS9100 and ITAR requirements.
  • Collaboration & Documentation: Partner with Product Engineering on manufacturability and process validation, ensuring accurate documentation of all processes.
  • Training & Mentorship: Provide training and mentorship to operators and other engineers.

Requirements Experience & Expertise:

  • Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in manufacturing or machining.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience in Wire EDM programming, setup, and process optimization within the aerospace or defense sectors. (Experience with Agie/GF equipment is recommended.)

Technical & Quality Knowledge:

  • Strong proficiency in CAD/CAM and EDM-specific software.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 quality systems and ITAR compliance.
  • Ability to accurately interpret complex aerospace drawings, including Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) and specifications.

Highly Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working with challenging materials such as titanium, Inconel, nickel-based alloys, and hardened steels.
  • Background in advanced manufacturing systems, including robotics and automation.
  • Direct experience with Aerospace OEM or defense programs.
