Job Description

Tommy John is a dual gender lifestyle brand focused on Men’s & Women’s underwear, intimates, sleep, and lounge. We are DTC-driven through our owned and operated brand e-Commerce business. We are undergoing transformation to multi-channel distribution, including Wholesale expansion while remaining on a mission to add smart, innovative, and fun-loving team members to the organization. We are looking for an Art Director to come join our New York based headquarters. Our HQ Office is in Lower Manhattan, and our teams are on-site 3 days per week.

Position Overview
Reporting to the VP Brand & Creative, the Art Director will keep the Tommy John customer at the forefront of all creative initiatives – working closely with the E-comm, Retail, Wholesale, Marketing, Merchandising, and Design teams to create unique brand experiences online and offline. They will have a strong design ethos and aesthetic with a thirst to build a compelling visual presence for the brand experience. They should be motivated and have a self-starter mentality with strong design skills across digital, print and packaging. Knowledge of directing a photo and video production is a must.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Execute creative concepts for campaigns and product launches, through an omni-channel lens with attention to brand accuracy
  • Develop campaign concepting under the guidance of the Head of Brand Content
    Partner closely with Marketing leads on executing against strategic priorities
  • Expand on brand positioning, look & feel across all channels
  • Manage all aspects of product and on-figure lifestyle photoshoots
    (concept / casting & location / preproduction / directing / selects / post)
  • Work closely with Executive Producer to prepare for productions
  • Partner with Marketing & Creative Operations to adhere to timelines
  • Provide styling, casting, and color/retouching direction for photography
  • Lead a team of Graphic Designers working in all mediums
  • Effectively delegate work, while monitoring team bandwidth
  • Guide and approve key deliverables such as paid ads, email and site layouts, partnership/activation collateral, retail signage and packaging concepts
  • Approve and expand on brand social presence, content and UGC
  • Foster a culture of creativity and collaboration within the team, encouraging innovation and growth

Qualifications, Skills, & Experience

  • Degree in Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Advertising or closely related creative field
  • 8+ years professional experience in graphic design/art direction
  • Experience in concepting, designing, and art directing campaigns across marketing channels
  • High proficiency in Adobe CS (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator) and Figma
  • Knowledge of Adobe Premiere and After Effects, a plus
  • Must be flexible and possess a growth mindset
  • Comfortable in a ‘scrappy,’ test-and-learn environment
  • Aware of market trends across fashion brands
  • Consumer understanding with a keen focus on a digital first approach 
  • Ability to manage creative needs across multiple marketing platforms (e.g., email, organic social, paid social, site experience, partnerships, and physical experiences)
  • Detail-oriented with a passion for problem solving
  • Deep knowledge of photography and videography
  • Ability to practice time management and work at a fast pace on multiple projects
  • Empathy for the customer and their interaction with the brand across touch points
  • Work collaboratively and cross-functionally, partnering closely with VP Marketing and Marketing leads

Salary Range: $140,000 to $150,000 annually
