Job Description: Bookkeeper
The Bookkeeper is responsible for accurately recording and maintaining the financial transactions of the organization. This role includes managing accounts, balancing ledgers, tracking expenses, and producing financial reports to ensure the organization's financial stability and compliance with accounting standards. The Bookkeeper plays a key role in supporting day-to-day financial operations and helping the organization make informed decisions based on accurate data.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Maintain accurate records of day-to-day financial transactions, including invoices, payments, and receipts.
+ Reconcile bank statements and ledger accounts regularly to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies.
+ Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable, including processing invoices, issuing payments, and tracking receivables.
+ Process payroll for employees, including tracking hours, calculating wages, and managing payroll taxes (if applicable).
+ Prepare financial statements such as profit and loss statements, cash flow reports, and balance sheets to provide insights to management.
+ Ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting requirements, including handling tax obligations.
+ Assist with budgeting by tracking expenses and reporting any variances or financial trends.
+ Maintain organized and easily accessible financial documentation for auditing purposes or management review.
Requirements
Preferred Qualifications:
+ High school diploma required; associate degree or coursework in accounting, finance, or business preferred.
+ 2-3 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or related roles.
+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, or Sage) and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word).
+ Strong understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
+ Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
+ Strong verbal and written communication abilities.
+ Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
