Job Description

Our client is seeking a Senior Food Scientist to drive innovation in medical nutrition, ensuring exceptional product quality, stability, sensory performance, and clinical impact. This role will lead to the development and optimization of nutritional beverages and powders from concept through commercialization.

Responsibilities:

Product Development & Innovation

  • Lead stability studies, sensory evaluations, and shelf‑life testing.
  • Translate clinical and nutritional requirements into product design.
  • Develop and optimize formulations for nutritional beverages and powders.
  • Conduct ingredient research, evaluate new technologies, and explore medical nutrition opportunities.

Cross‑Functional Leadership

  • Support clinical development with scientific and technical expertise.
  • Present research findings at scientific meetings and conferences.
  • Partner with Medical Nutrition, Marketing, Sales, and Regulatory to align product design with business and patient needs.

Commercialization & Scale‑Up

  • Lead scale‑up activities from bench to pilot plant to full production.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, food safety, and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing process optimization and aseptic processing.

Vendor & IP Management

  • Build and manage supplier relationships to source compliant ingredients.
  • Support intellectual property strategy for new formulations and processes.

Qualifications/Must Haves:

  • Strong understanding of ingredient interactions and nutrient stability.
  • Knowledge of GMP, food safety standards, and aseptic processing.
  • 5+ years of product development experience from concept to commercialization in nutrition, food, beverage, supplement, nutraceutical, or biotech.
  • Experience in basic and applied R&D within small/mid‑sized food or nutrition companies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related field (Masters preferred; PhD or PharmD a plus)
