Job Title: Grounds Maintenance & Equipment Technician

Location: Spoon River & Mackinaw Dells Rest Areas, I-74

Job Description:

We’re seeking a skilled and hardworking Grounds Maintenance & Equipment Technician to join our team! This position is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of rest areas along I-74 at Spoon River and Mackinaw Dells. In addition to groundskeeping and janitorial duties, this role requires mechanical skills to perform repairs on small engines, garden equipment, trailers, and vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform lawn maintenance, including mowing, trimming, and general landscaping.
• Conduct snow removal to maintain safe pathways and parking areas during winter months.
• Complete janitorial tasks to keep restrooms, common areas, and facilities clean and sanitary.
• Inspect, maintain, and perform repairs on small engines, landscaping equipment, trailers, and vehicles.
• Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues, ensuring equipment remains in good working order.
• Report and address any maintenance issues or safety hazards.
• Ensure compliance with all safety and operational standards.

Qualifications:

• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
• Experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or janitorial work is preferred
• Mechanical aptitude with the ability to repair and maintain small engines, garden equipment, trailers, and vehicles.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Physical ability to lift, bend, and perform repetitive tasks.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Competitive hourly pay: $19.00 - $24.00 , based on experience.
