Position Summary:

Performs direct and indirect patient care duties under the supervision of the Director of Rehabilitation or other appropriately licensed professional.

• High school graduate or equivalent required, AA or college student preferred
• Active Respiratory Therapist Certification (C.R.T.) required
• Basic Life Support (BLS) and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certifications
• 6 months of prior experience preferred
• Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills
• Basic computer, charting and knowledge of office equipment (copier, fax, etc.)
• Patience, empathy and the ability to get along with multiple personality types
• Must be able to execute the physical duties of the position (transferring, lifting and supporting patients with proper techniques, pushing wheelchairs and other therapy equipment, donning/doffing equipment as needed, etc.)

Responsibilities:

• Monitors patients for proper position of airways, oxygenation and respiratory stability
• Administer respiratory therapies as needed
• Ventilator management, assessment, cleaning, weaning and maintenance
• Tracheostomy maintenance, cleaning, replacement and assurance of airway
• Assists therapist with other patient related treatment activities as trained/instructed
