Sr. Test Engineer

Full time hybrid opening for a Sr. Test Engineer with strong SQL experience.  Role will be on site 3-4 times a month and you must live in the Greater Philly area. You will develop and improve testing frameworks for applications, with a focus on data transfer and storage. This role operates within an Agile engineering team to deliver high-quality solutions, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and mentors peers to advance continuous testing and quality initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Develop and enhance testing frameworks for applications, prioritizing data transfer and storage.

• Engage in Agile practices to ensure delivery of quality-focused applications.

• Gain in-depth knowledge of data and system architecture.

• Translate requirements into effective testing framework designs.

• Advocate for quality improvement initiatives across teams.

• Create mocks and simulators to support integration testing.

• Positively influence engineering peers and cross-functional teams (Product, Support, Project Management).

• Collaborate with DevOps to integrate testing as quality gates in a Continuous Testing system.

• Support application deployments and production monitoring.

• Partner with performance engineers to embed performance metrics in functional testing.

• Build expertise in the payments business.

• Mentor team members through training, pair programming, and code reviews.

Basic Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in development and testing with SQL and object-oriented programming (OOP).

• Proven track record in building and maintaining test frameworks.

• Strong experience testing backend and database-centric applications.

• Proficient in SQL scripting, ETL processes, and database performance tuning.

• Skilled in creating mock data simulators.

• Experienced Agile practitioner, embedding quality-focused tasks in workflows.

• Ability to influence peers and stakeholders to adopt continuous testing and quality practices.

• Familiarity with testing tools.

• Knowledge of infrastructure applications.

• Proficient with GitLab.

Preferred Qualifications

• Extensive experience with infrastructure applications:

  • Snowflake/Sigma

  • SQL Server

  • Message Queueing

  • Redis

• Experience creating and managing test data for dynamic automation.

• Proficiency with testing tools:

  • Katalon

  • SonarQube

  • NUnit

  • Postman

• Experience with application types:

  • Web front ends

  • APIs

  • Queuing systems

  • Mobile apps

  • POS systems and devices

• Familiarity with infrastructure tools:

• Kubernetes

• Octopus/Argo

• Azure DevOps

• DynaTrace

• Windows IIS
